Mail Generator FAQ
Short answers to the questions readers ask most often. Each answer links to a full guide if you want the details.
What is a mail generator?
A service that creates a working email address for you instantly, without registration. Messages sent to that address appear on the service’s website. It is meant for short-lived needs such as receiving a confirmation code. Read the full guide.
Is a generated address really mine?
Usually not in the way your personal email is. On most services the inbox is public: anyone who types the same address sees the same messages. Treat everything that arrives there as readable by others. More on safety.
Can I send email from a mail generator?
Most generators only receive. Sending would let anyone use the service to deliver spam, so the majority switch it off entirely.
How long do messages stay in a generated inbox?
It depends on the service: from minutes to several days. Never rely on a generated inbox to keep anything you will need later.
Why did a website say my email is not allowed?
Many sites keep lists of domains used by mail generators and refuse them at sign-up. Here is why, and what you can do.
My verification code never arrived. What now?
Check the spelling of the address, wait two or three minutes (some senders retry later), refresh the inbox, and make sure the site did not silently reject the domain. Full checklist.
Should I use a generated address for my bank or work account?
No. If you ever need a password reset or a security alert, it will go to an inbox you cannot control. Use your real address, or a private alias that forwards to it. Compare the options.
Is it legal to use a mail generator?
Using a temporary address to protect your privacy is legal in most countries. What matters is how you use it: breaking a website’s terms or deceiving people is not made acceptable by the type of email address you used.
How do I tell if an email is phishing?
Look at the real sender address, hover over links before clicking, and be suspicious of urgency and requests for passwords or payments. Seven quick checks.
Does Gener Mail give out email addresses?
No. Gener Mail is a reading site. We explain how mail generators work and how to use them safely, but we do not operate inboxes for visitors.
